RESERVING CLASSES

All of our Adult/Teen classes have limited space, so we allow you to reserve your spot in advance. We also have a waitlist in case the class fills up. If you are on the waitlist, you will receive an email or a text informing you when a spot becomes available in the class.

   •   You will be able to reserve your spot in class up to 10 days before the start time of class.

   •   You may cancel your reservation up to 6 hours in advance with no penalty.

   •   If you don’t cancel your reservation before the 6-hour cut-off time, then . . .

Option 1: Transfer Your Reservation – You may find someone to take over your reservation. Most people use the private Lions Message Board group on Facebook. The person who takes your spot CANNOT already have an existing reservation in that class. Once someone has agreed to take your spot, you must inform the admin team BEFORE THE START TIME OF CLASS to let us know the full name of the person taking your spot (either tag us in the post, or send us an email). Otherwise we won’t know, so we won’t be able to transfer the reservation.

Option 2: Use a Freebie – Everyone starts their membership with 5 freebies. You may exchange one of your freebies to avoid being charged a penalty for late cancelling the class or no-showing on a reservation. In order to use a freebie, you must email  lionskravmaga@gmail.com BEFORE THE START TIME OF CLASS to let us know that you would like to use one of your freebies.

Option 3: $10 No-Show Fee – If we do not receive an email letting us know who your reservation should be transferred to, or letting us know that you'd like to use one of your 5 freebies, then you will incur a $10 no-show fee, which will be charged to the account you have on file during your next billing cycle.

No-show fees will go into our Holiday Party fund! We throw a pretty great party over the holidays… free seminar, open bar, ridiculous board games. The no-show fees will now help fund the merriment!

In the case of a class having 3 or fewer students reserved within 2 hours of the start time of that class, the class will be canceled and any student reservations will be transferred to another Lions class happening at that same time OR if there is not another class option at that time, any reserved students will be informed of the class cancellation via text message.

If you are more than 5 minutes late to a class for which you have a reservation, you risk losing your spot to a person on the waitlist!

KRAV JUNIOR RESERVATIONS

If your child is not able to attend a class in-person, you may make a reservation for the virtual class on that day. You must make the reservation at least 1 hour prior to the start time of class so that the instructor knows that they must set up the equipment for streaming.

KRAV JUNIOR ATTENDANCE POLICY

Tuition for a Krav Junior membership secures your child's spot in class on a specific day & time. We do not offer credits for missed classes.

We provide make-up classes for excused absences. An absence may be excused if it is due to an illness or emergency. In order for the absence to be excused, we must receive notice of the absence BEFORE THE START TIME OF CLASS emailed to lionskravmaga@gmail.com. Once we have received your notice, we will be in touch with options for scheduling your child's make-up class.

Krav Junior Pick-up, Drop-off, and Supervision

Drop Off
Parents must come inside with their children to drop them off, sign them in at the kiosk, check in with the instructor, and/or make sure they have everything they need for class.

Pick Up
Students will not be allowed to leave the gym to meet their parents outside/ in the parking lot. Parents must come inside the gym to pick up their child. Students will wait in a designated area to be released by the instructor to their parent once that parent is present. Parents must wait until the instructor sees you & signs the child out before the child can leave the designated waiting area.

Before & After Class Supervision
A Krav Junior instructor is available to supervise students starting 10 minutes before the start time of class and ending 10 minutes after the class's designated end time. Your child is always welcome at the gym any time that we are open, though outside of those time frames the Lions staff will not be responsible for their supervision.

Children are welcome to bring toys, games, or books to play with at the gym, though they are not allowed to bring the toys, games, or books into class with them. They must leave them either in a bag on the gear shelf in the back lobby, in a locker, or next to their shoes on the shoe shelf. We ask that they not leave their toys, games, or books on the floor or furniture while they're in class, as their items could get damaged or lost.

SAFETY GEAR

Safety gear is required for our Adult/Teen classes, specifically the following:

   •   16 oz. boxing gloves

   •   Shin guards (must cover tops of feet as well)

   •   Mouth guard

   •   Groin protector

>> MMA gloves are required for all upper levels classes (e.g. Krav Maga 2+, Adv. Fight Tactics, etc.)

All of these items are available for purchase in our gym or online PRO-SHOP

A note about shoes…

We do not allow outdoor shoes on the mats; we try to keep the street germs on the streets. However, we encourage you to bring in a pair of mat shoes (any shoes that have not been worn outside, or that have been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected) to train in. It is your choice to train in shoes or not in the regular classes, but we do require that students wear mat shoes during Belt Tests.

We also require shoes for our outdoor classes. Please make sure you have closed-toe outdoor shoes to train in outside.

KRAV JUNIOR UNIFORMS

All Krav Junior students are required to wear the full Krav Junior uniform to every class, which includes a Krav Junior or Lions Krav Maga T-shirt, black athletic pants or shorts, and their martial arts belt. Students must tuck in their shirts for class.

Students may wear mat shoes (indoor-only shoes) or go barefoot for class. Students may not wear socks-only in class, as there is a higher risk for them to slip and fall.

We do not require safety gear in the beginner classes, though we recommend shin guards for Y-Division (age 6-8) & J-Division (age 9-12) during the Anti-Bullying Trimester in the Fall.

The following safety gear is required for the Advanced Division:

• Boxing gloves (8-12 oz.)

• Shin guards

• Head gear

• Mouthguard

**Groin protection is recommended for children age 10+

BELT RANKS

The following is a list of belt ranks, in order, at Lions Krav Maga . . .

Section 1: Beginner

   •   White

   •   Grey**

   •   Yellow

Section 2: Intermediate

   •   Orange

   •   Green

Section 3: Advanced

   •   Blue

   •   Purple

Section 4: Master

   •   Brown

   •   Black

**In Krav Junior, we omit the Grey Belt and move straight from White to Yellow.

Adult/Teen students test after they reach the highest rank with their Section in order to be promoted to the first belt rank in the next Section. The ranks within a Section are awarded in class as students demonstrate their progress.

You have to complete a minimum number of instructional classes in order to be assessed for your next rank; just because you are eligible for assessment does not guarantee promotion. You must demonstrate sufficient knowledge appropriate for that rank in order to be promoted.

Krav Junior tests are offered 2-3 times per year. Students must receive all 8 of their Skills Stripes on their belt before they become eligible to test for their next belt. It takes approximately 1 year of regular attendance to receive all 8 stripes.

ADULT/TEEN BELT TESTS

To be eligible to test into the next Section, you must achieve the following:

   1.   The highest belt rank of your current Section

   2.   Attended the minimum number of instructional classes for your rank

   3.   Received permission to test from a Senior Instructor

In order to register for the Adult/Teen Belt Test, you will need to complete the requisite classes on your Ranking Checklist Card and get your Permission to Test form signed by a Senior Instructor (forms are available at the front desk). Once these are complete, bring your signed Permission to Test form to the front desk and provide payment for registration. Your complete registration is due 1 week before the test date. Check out this blog post for some advice on preparing for your BELT TEST

In order to be eligible for the Krav Junior Belt Test, your child must have received all 8 of their Skill Stripes on their current belt level. During each of the three trimesters, students will have the opportunity to earn many of their stripes. Your child’s instructor will reach out to you about Belt Test registration once your child becomes eligible.

REFUND POLICY

Event Registrations

You may cancel any event registration that you have paid for in full with a 100% refund up until 7 days prior to the start date of that event if you provide your cancellation and refund request, in writing, to lionskravmaga@gmail.com a minimum of 7 days in advance.

You may receive a 50% refund for cancellations for any event that are paid in full if you cancel and request a refund in writing a minimum of 48 hours in advance of that event's start time.  We do not accept cancellations or provide refunds or credits within 48 hours to the start date of the event.

The standard method for an event refund is a credit to your Lions Krav Maga account. If you prefer to have the fees refunded to you directly, you must request this in writing to lionskravmaga@gmail.com.

Private Events

In the case of deposits paid for special events, that deposit is non-refundable. The remainder of the event fee follows the same policy as that which is stated above under "Event Registrations."

Personal Training Sessions

Personal Training packages are non-refundable. You may cancel a previously scheduled private lesson within 24 hours of that lesson and still retain credit on your account for that lesson. If you do not provide us with 24 hours notice to reschedule, you will forfeit that lesson.

Membership Tuition

We do not provide tuition refunds unless you were wrongfully charged according to the terms of your Membership Agreement contract. We do not provide tuition refunds due to lack of attendance.

MEMBERSHIP UPGRADES

You may upgrade your membership (including membership renewals) at any time during your membership term by emailing lionskravmaga@gmail.com. For upgrades during a current membership term, the upgrade effective date will be the same as the next tuition payment date and will last for the full term.  For example, if you upgrade to a 12-month membership halfway through your 6-month membership, your 12-month membership will start the next payment date for the full 12 months, starting at that point (it will not retroactively include the months that have already passed).

All of our Adult/Teen memberships renew automatically at a 3-month term, but you can give notice to upgrade to a 6- or 12-month membership at any time. All requests require 24 to 48 hours to process.

All of our Krav Junior memberships renew as month-to-month memberships, but you have the option to upgrade to the trimester membership rate.

MEMBERSHIP HOLDS

The hold policy allows you to temporarily suspend your membership in accordance with the following terms:

   •   You may freeze your membership once per contractual term for a minimum of one month and a maximum of three (3) consecutive months, in one-month increments, for a fee of $10 per month in place of tuition.

   •   The remaining time on your membership, and the associated tuition bills, will resume after the freeze period is over.

   •   The period during which your membership is on hold does not count towards your membership term. If you have a 12-month membership, and you decide to go on hold for a month after attending classes for 6 of those 12 months, the remaining 6 months of your 12-month membership will resume after your hold period is over.

   •   Any tuition bills that are due before the start of the freeze period will still be due on schedule.

• If you are part of a Family Plan in which a 3rd person's tuition is free, the family discount will be suspended during the freeze period. The Family Plan discount only applies when 2 members are paying full-fee tuition for that month.

To freeze your membership, fill out the Membership Freeze Request Form a minimum of 48 hours prior to the start of your hold term to allow time for processing your request.

EXEMPTIONS

Medical Exemption -- If a doctor orders you to not engage in rigorous physical activity due to pregnancy, an injury, or illness, you may provide Lions Krav Maga with written documentation from your doctor, and we will waive the hold fee and hold term limits.

Required Travel -- If you are on military deployment, or are required to travel for work or school, you may provide Lions Krav Maga written documentation of these requirements to have the hold fee and hold term limits waived.

MEMBERSHIP CANCELLATION

There are three types of cancellation:

   •   Standard Non-renewal

   •   Contract Buy-out

   •   Contract Exempt Cancellation

Non-Renewal -- In order to prevent the automatic renewal of your membership, we must receive a written notice of non-renewal via the Membership Cancellation Request Form, or via email to lionskravmaga@gmail.com, at least 30 days prior to the final date of your current membership term.

If we have not received a written request for non-renewal from you by that point, the membership will automatically renew as per the terms in your Membership Agreement. If you wish to still cancel at this point, you have the option to complete the renewal term or to take the Contract Buy-out cancellation option.

Contract Buy-Out -- If you do not wish to complete your contracted membership term, you may opt to buy out your contract by paying the Buy-Out Fee. This fee is equal to your membership's next tuition bill in full, plus 20% of the remaining cancelled tuition bills. For memberships billed monthly, this will equal one month’s tuition in full, plus 20% of the remaining month’s canceled tuition bills. For Platinum memberships, this would equal one full quarter’s tuition in full, plus 20% of the remaining quarter’s canceled tuition bills.

Example: If you wish to cancel your 12-month membership after only 6 months, your Buy-Out fee will equal 1 month in full + 20% of the 5 cancelled months’ tuition bills.

Once you have paid the Buy-Out Fee, your membership will be cancelled with no further membership obligations.

In order to request a Contract Buy-Out, you may fill out the Membership Cancellation Request Form or send an email to lionskravmaga@gmail.com

Contract Exempt Cancellation* -- The following circumstances will allow for an exemption to the standard cancellation policy.

   •   A minimum of 30-days written notice of intent to cancel with evidence of permanent relocation 30+ miles away from any Lions Krav Maga submitted to lionskravmaga@gmail.com. *This exemption does not apply to virtual training memberships.

   •   A minimum of 48-hour written notice of intent to cancel with evidence of military deployment submitted to lionskravmaga@gmail.com

   •   A minimum of 48-hour written notice of intent to cancel submitted to lionskravmaga@gmail.com, along with written verification from your doctor that you have a long-term or permanent illness or injury that prohibits you from further training even with reasonable accommodations.

Once you have sent your written request via Cancellation Form or email, you will receive an email confirmation of your cancellation within 48 hours. If you do not receive your confirmation, please send us another email or text us at (512) 588-3356 to confirm that we received your notice.

We do not automatically cancel memberships due to lack of use.
